Summary

This site is a reference archive. It has no accounts, no login, no comment system and no newsletter. We do not ask you for personal information in order to read anything here, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Information we collect

We collect the information a web server normally records when it serves a page: the IP address the request came from, the date and time, the address of the page requested, the referring page if your browser sent one, and the browser and operating system identification string. These server logs are kept for 30 days for security and capacity planning, then deleted. They are not used to build a profile of any individual reader.

Cookies

The archive itself sets no cookies and uses no local storage to identify you. The only cookie-like storage in use is what third-party services described below may set, and your browser's own settings control those.

Advertising and Google AdSense

This site is supported by advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Our lawful basis for the server logs described above is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and available. Where advertising cookies are set on the basis of consent, that consent is the lawful basis and you may withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, write to the address on the contact page. We answer within one month and we do not charge for the first request.

Your rights under the CCPA

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, disclosed or sold; the right to delete personal information we hold about you; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Children

This site is a horticultural reference aimed at adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes are also noted on the about page.
